Unit Types and Units

In LodgeKit, a unit type defines a category of accommodation (e.g. "Standard Cabin" or "Powered Site"), and a unit is an individual bookable item of that type (e.g. "Cabin 1", "Cabin 2"). Set up unit types first, then create units under each type.

Creating a Unit Type

Unit types save you from entering the same rate and details over and over.

1

Go to the units section

Open the units management page from the sidebar.

2

Click the Unit Types tab

At the top of the page, switch to the Unit Types tab to see your existing types (if any).

3

Click Add Unit Type

Click the Add Unit Type button in the top right corner.

4

Fill in the details

Enter a name (e.g. "Deluxe Cabin"), the base rate, optional weekly or monthly rates, maximum capacity, and a description. Use the cadence that matches your LodgeKit flavour and operating model.

5

Save

Click Save to create the unit type. You can now create units under this type.

Use descriptive names

Name your unit types clearly so staff can tell them apart at a glance. "2BR Lakeside Cabin" is better than "Type B".

Adding Individual Units

Once you have at least one unit type, you can add units.

1

Click Add Unit

From the units page, click the Add Unit button.

2

Enter the unit number

Give the unit a unique number or name (e.g. "Cabin 4" or "Site 12"). This is how it will appear on bookings, stays, placements, and calendars.

3

Select the unit type

Choose the unit type from the dropdown. The configured rate will be inherited from the type.

4

Set the floor (optional)

If your property has multi-level buildings, enter the floor number. This is optional.

5

Add notes (optional)

Add any internal notes about the unit - "lake view", "needs new blinds", etc. These notes are only visible to staff.

6

Save

Click Save. The unit appears in your units list and is immediately available for bookings, stays, or placements.
